    Greetings Eagle Families,

Welcome to the 2023-2024 School Year!  We are looking forward to welcoming back our Eagles this fall. Over the past year, we continued our House System and our students did a wonderful job of finding ways to exhibit both House Pride and School Pride. The House of Amistad, also known as the Red House and the house that I belong to, was the House of the Year for 2022-23 and we look forward to the friendly competition amongst the houses again this year! We are looking forward to kicking off the year with our scholars and welcoming our new scholars to our House next month!

Last school year, our goal was to show continuous improvement and to continue to develop an environment filled with young scholars, hungry to excel and achieve and we saw our scholars rise to the occasion in many ways!  We will work diligently to ensure that our students are equipped to continue developing both socially and academically.  Our focus will continue to be to accelerate learning as we continue to build on the knowledge and foundational skills our scholars have and help them to use that to acquire new academic skills.  We continue to equip our teachers with the tools needed to ensure that our students' social-emotional well-being is intact and that they are using the most cutting-edge academic resources to prepare our scholars for college and/or their future careers as stated in our school's mission and vision statements.  We will not lose focus of our commitment to achieving these goals!

The 2022-23 school year brought about overall positive changes and greater results.  Third through fifth grade students showed improvements in Math and Science proficiency based on their performance on the FAST and NGSS assessments. While we await school grade results from the state, we anticipate that we will maintain our academic progress and achievement.  As we celebrate our growth, we have set new goals and are putting a plan in motion to ensure that we take on the challenge of new academic standards and accountability assessments to achieve and exceed any goal set for our Eagles.

This year, our school theme is Get Ready for a Colorful Year: Embracing Our Diversity to Create Success and Achievement for All.  For those parents who love to find supplies that match our theme, we are using a Crayola theme for school decor. We will continue to dig deeper as a school community so that our teachers provide a high-quality education for all scholars, considering their individual needs, while ensuring that every child is prepared for success in every classroom, every day.  Our students will take this journey with us, setting goals that they CAN achieve and exceed by taking risks and recognizing that every day is an opportunity to learn and grow.  We will monitor student progress towards their goals regularly, making the necessary adjustments to ensure their success.  Moreover, I challenge you, parents/caregivers, to take an even greater role by becoming more involved in our school functions and in your child’s academic journey.

Please plan to join us for our Student Orientation on Thursday, August 10, 2023, using the following schedule:
