• The Elementary Program: The program is the home to approximately 8,500 students a year. We see every fifth grade student in the Duval County Public School System. The labs and activities that we facilitate are designed to follow the science objectives of the fifth grade curriculum. The visiting teachers attend a workshop prior to their class visit where they receive training on how to conduct the labs.  As the students work thru their day of hands-on science, they have a workbook they fill out that covers the activities they perform. The classes eat lunch in our pavilion and then go to Hanna Park Beach.  Along the way our instructor educates the students about the marine environment.  Upon arrival at the beach the students walk along the shore and are taught by our instructor about the beach ecosystem.  Upon returning to their school teachers can apply the lessons and activities learned at Marine Science Center in their classrooms.
