Students receive support through the Response to Intervention (RtI) process.  This is a great overview of the RtI process. RtI involves meeting students' diverse needs using varied materials and resources (a process that is very familiar to Montessorians).

If RtI data shows that a student needs a consistent intervention to maintain growth, or if a student's needs are not fully met through RtI, there is a process for qualifying for further support through Exceptional Student Education.  The process includes a review of the RtI documentation during a Multidisciplinary Team meeting.  The Multidisciplinary Referral Team (MRT) meetings usually occur monthly and include the General Education teacher, the Exceptional Education teachers, the RtI facilitator, the School Counselor, a staffing representative, and related specialists (School Psychologist, Speech and Language Pathologist, Occupational Therapist, Physical Therapist).
