• Parent Conferences

We encourage you to get to know your child’s teacher.  Parent conferences are scheduled for all students during the first 9 weeks of school to discuss your student and the best ways to communicate with you.  You are always invited to make appointments with the teacher or principal by calling the school. Appointments are needed to ensure that the teacher is available to meet with you and is prepared with necessary materials and information.

    Parent Communication

We work to communicate with parents through a variety of methods to ensure you stay informed.  Teachers will ask if you have a preferred method of contact.  Additionally, we work to maintain communication through technology based communication apps when appropriate and possible.

    Volunteer Opportunities

We invite you to share some of your time and talents at school by becoming a school volunteer.  Please complete the volunteer sign-up process at , and check your approval status by contacting front office personnel. It is important to always sign in when entering the school building.  When you are ready to volunteer, contact your student's teacher and the front office so they can give you a pass to the room.

    Events, Holidays, and Celebrations

Whenever possible, our teachers and staff work to incorporate monthly history and heritage celebrations into our daily class lessons.  We also plan school-wide assemblies, flag raisings, and performances to celebrate many events throughout the year.  We invite you to join us on those days to help us celebrate.  Please see our school calendar for more details.

    School Safety

The gates and doors at Richard Lewis Brown remain locked at all times.  Adults are not permitted to enter the building after 8:15 AM unless they are identified as a volunteer for the day.  Our procedure for students when moving through the building is to travel with another student or an adult will be sent to pick the student up and escort them to their location.
