  • Our Mission:

Here at Jean Ribault Senior High School, our mission is to provide high quality healthcare for our student-athletes. These healthcare services include overseeing the health and safety of our student-athletes, as well as the coaches, and spectators during practices, games, and events held on campus. We also help provide our student-athletes with free annual pre-participation physical examinations during each summer and a referral network of trustworthy physicians, should an athlete need further evaluation and treatment of an injury. In adjunct with these services, we also educate our student-athletes, coaches, and parents on important topics including, but not limited to: concussion management, proper nutrition and hydration for optimal health and performance, and critical aspects of heat-related illness. Our services are provided by our head athletic trainer, team physician, a referral network of orthopedic physicians and specialists, the Wolfson Children's Health Center on campus, and emergency medical services during home football games and large track meets.

    What is an Athletic Trainer?

An athletic trainer is a certified and licensed healthcare professional trained in the prevention, treatment, rehabilitation, and management of sports-related injuries and life-threatening injuries. Our athletic trainer works under the direct and indirect supervision of our volunteer team physician. The athletic trainer is present for all practices, home games, and home events, and may also be accompanied by our team physician, resident physicians, and other athletic trainers throughout Jacksonville for large events such as football games and Gateway Conference events hosted on our campus. Our athletic trainer is a part of the full-time staff at Jean Ribault Senior High and operates out of the athletic training facility located in the Trojans Field House. Athletic Trainers are a vital part of every school's athletics program. With a full-time athletic trainer on staff, student-athletes have access to a medical professional that will help limit the risk of injury and life-threatening injuries and properly treats all injuries sustained during sports. This provides athletes with a safe return to play.
