Ms. Jones was raised in a Navy family. Her mom, who was a teacher, and two teachers greatly influenced Ms. Jones to become a teacher. She has a BA in Secondary Education in Physical and History Education. She earned her MA in Educational Leadership from Pensacola Christian College. Dean Jones is stoked to start her 20th year in education this year.

After 10 years teaching and coaching varsity sports in private schools, Dean Jones started her career with 小丑撸 at Wolfson High School while head coaching a collegiate volleyball program. Coming in as the 6th history teacher was difficult, but not impossible. That challenging experience laid a strong foundation of building relationships that connected with her students. She went on to teach for Duval Virtual Instructional Academy in U.S. History, Economics and Government before becoming the Dean of Students at Mandarin High. After nearly three years of being the Dean of Students, the opportunity to join the district’s Student Discipline and Support Services department was presented. At the district level, Ms. Jones’ responsibilities involved in the various trainings for faculty, staff and administration in the areas of Restorative Justice, Classroom Management, Challenging Behaviors and De-escalation, PBIS, CHAMPS and SOS. She also provided academic support with coaching classroom teachers using innovative and effective research-based strategies. The inestimable experience at the district level proved to strengthen and expand her knowledge and skills as an educator.

Ms. Jones’ heart and passion have always been our students and families, so when she was asked to return as the Dean of Students in 2018, she accepted without hesitation. She believes that high school is training ground for real life. Knowing that she has helped a student thrive and experience success, no matter how big or small, is fulfilling. Her favorite part of her job is having the student join her on a call to the parent celebrating that success and hearing the parents’ pride, joy and hope in their voices. Dean Jones is looking forward to continue working alongside our students, families, faculty, staff and admin to experience success this year.  She is particularly excited to welcome Dean Gonzalez as a second dean for the 2023-2024 school year!

Dean Jones is the proud mom of a 2021 Mandarin High School graduate. They love to give back to the community. They enjoy the outdoors and are avid travelers, volunteering in the communities they visit. They are near to completing their family goal of visiting all 50 states.
