TEAM UP is a comprehensive, school-based afterschool program that provides educational and enrichment opportunities to students. TEAM UP at Cedar Hills Elementary is sponsored by FLDOE’s 21st Century Grant. Through this grant, students are provided academic enrichment and a broad array of programs and activities designed to reinforce and complement the academic, social, and enrichment learning that occurs during the regular school day. In addition, TEAM UP offers families of students served by the Cedar Hills community opportunities for active and meaningful engagement in their children’s education. What’s the TEAM UP experience? Well, each afternoon students are welcomed into a general meeting place, checked in by TEAM UP staff and enjoy a nutritious snack. Students then go to different classrooms for a period up to 75 minutes to receive tutoring/academic support under the supervision of a certified teacher and TEAM UP staff members. After the academic enrichment session ends, students participate in activities such as cheerleading, dance, karate, arts and crafts, sports, and other project-based learning sessions. At the conclusion of both sessions, students enjoy a nutritious dinner before they are released to parents and guardians.
TEAM UP at Cedar Hills Elementary serves students in kindergarten through fifth grades. The program operates Monday through Friday for a period of three hours each day. The program is closed on all school holidays. TEAM UP is provided at no cost and applications are taken throughout the school year until the program has reached capacity.
