    Multiple Intelligences Magnet FAQ

What is our Multiple Intelligence Theme?

Our magnet theme is Multiple Intelligences (MI). The MI concept was developed by Dr. Howard Gardner from Harvard University. It focuses on nine ways of being smart: verbal/linguistic, mathematical/logical, naturalistic, musical/rhythmic, interpersonal, intrapersonal, visual/spatial, bodily/kinesthetic, and existential. Teachers survey students at the beginning of the year to determine their strengths and interests. Based on the survey results and regular classroom interactions, teachers plan classroom activities and lessons that build upon a student’s unique intelligence. Students learn best when they are provided opportunities to work in an environment closely related to their needs and allowed to demonstrate their understanding through various activities and projects.
