• Welcome to DA for the 2023-2024 School Year

DA Principal Tina WilsonDear students and families,

We are excited about beginning another year at Douglas Anderson School of the Arts (DA), and we are pleased that you will be with us for the 2023-2024 school year.  DA is a special school that offers you an opportunity to develop your talent and interest in the arts, as well as excel in academics.

Students new to DA and taking any online course(s) through Florida Virtual (FLVS), be sure to change your school designation to Douglas Anderson as soon as possible to ensure correct scheduling and proper placement for the 2023-2024 school year.

Students who are bus riders must register for transportation before they will be allowed to ride a bus to school. Parents must have a FOCUS account and the FOCUS primary address must be current. Bus registration is now open, and you may access the registration guide through the following link – /Page/31291

Students who are car riders, the only drop off point is in front of the cafeteria building on San Diego Road. Gates open at 7:55 a.m.  All students must report to the cafeteria, patio, or amphitheater for morning supervision.  Students cannot be dropped off on White Avenue, in the bus loading area, or in the senior parking lot at any time. All pick up and drop off will take place in front of the cafeteria.

Orientation Schedule (Opening Session in the DuBow Theatre off of White Avenue)

To participate in orientation, students should arrive promptly at 9:00 a.m. on their designated day and report to the DuBow Theatre for a welcome and instructions. Parking for orientation is in the senior lot located on White Avenue. The complete orientation process takes approximately two hours.  The school building will close at 12 p.m.  Any student who has not completed the entire orientation process by 12 p.m. will be able to continue on the first day of school – Monday, August 14th.

Please be advised that students with any debt (textbooks, ID fees, etc.) will not be able to pick up materials (ID, schedule, laptop, etc.) at orientation until all debts are cleared.  Instructions for checking your debt status are available at this link.   Students are encouraged to clear their debts before the orientation dates. During orientation, all students will receive schedules, student laptops, and picture ID’s (all students will receive new ID’s). Duval County Public Schools requires students to wear 小丑撸 provided ID’s around their neck at all times while on campus.

Student parking will go on sale to seniors only during Senior Orientation and will remain available only to seniors through August 11. Beginning August 14, any remaining spots will be available for sale to juniors. Spots must be paid for online , and require a copy of a valid Florida or Georgia Driver’s License, car registration, and valid proof of insurance. Students who are on the debt list will not be allowed to purchase a parking pass until all debt is cleared. Cost is $80. The Parking Permit paperwork can be found on the DA website by clicking here

Only students participate in the orientation walk-through process.  During this time, parents/guardians will remain in the theatre for a presentation. If a student is unable to attend orientation, they will be provided all the materials on the first day of school.

School starts on Monday, August 14, 2023. Our school hours are 8:25 a.m. – 3:25 p.m. Any student not in attendance during the first three days of school will be removed from the Douglas Anderson roll and enrolled at their neighborhood school.  Students must be in attendance at DA on August 14, 15, and 16 to secure their placement for the 2023-24 school year.

Looking forward to a great school year,

    Tina Wilson Signature
