Mr. Ryan Casey

I would like to introduce myself and welcome you to our school website and my profile page. My name is Ryan Casey and I have the privilege and honor of leading the staff and students of Julia Landon College Preparatory and Leadership Development Middle School. This is my first year at Julia Landon, however, I have been the principal at a middle school for the past 17 years.

I was born and raised in a small town in western Maine and stayed there to raise my own family. After 50 years, I decided it was time to move on. I now reside in Jacksonville and look forward to the next 50 years here. I graduated from Mountain Valley High School in 1991 and the University of Maine at Farmington in 1995. I have a bachelor's  degree in School Health Education and a Master's degree in Educational Leadership.

I am married to my amazing wife Jessica, a teacher with a masters in school leadership and together we have raised wonderful adult children who have relocated with us from Maine to Jacksonville. My daughter Emma is 22 and also an educator. My son Ethan is 19 and a freshman at Jacksonville University studying aeronautics. We are excited to join the community and become part of the Landon family.

I believe in a shared leadership style and have worked hard to create a collaborative school learning environment. One that provides our staff, students, parents, and our community the opportunity to get involved and make a difference.  We all play a role in the learning process and when we work together anything is possible. I truly believe that all students can and will learn if they feel safe and believe in the school that they are attending. Julia Landon has a rich history and an amazing legacy and I will work hard to lead our school community and to support our staff so that they can provide rigorous and authentic learning opportunities while doing our very best to help students see the relevance in what they are being asked to do and learn at Landon each day. Our school will have a "Sky's the Limit" attitude and a focus on creating the leaders of tomorrow. Our students will be prepared for high school and beyond and will leave Julia Landon with a love for learning and leading, as well as a rigorous educational foundation that is supported by our magnet program.

I truly love my job as school principal and leading is something that I was born to do.  I look forward to working with stakeholders of Julia Landon and the other magnet partners to make a difference.
