Mr. John Petry

Mr. John Petry graduated with honors from Terry Parker High School then attended Florida Junior College and the University of North Florida to obtain a BFA degree in Graphic Design. He spent the next 30 years as a graphic designer, art director and print production services director for Husk Jennings Advertising and Public Relations in Jacksonville. The agency's sale led to a career change for Mr. Petry. His sister, a long time art instructor in Duval County, suggested he try teaching art. That meant a return to college at Jacksonville University for teacher certification courses that eventually led to a career in teaching. Mr. Petry has been at Parkwood Heights for nearly six years now. "It's my neighborhood school and I wouldn't want to be anywhere else."
