• Woodland Acres Elementary was founded in 1956 and has maintained a proud tradition of educating the children in the Arlington community of Jacksonville. As the demographics of the community we serve have changed, so too has the school and the programs we offer. Currently, Woodland Acres serves a diverse student population of approximately 650 students.

Woodland Acres Elementary has recently become a School of the Medical Arts serving as a feeder school to Darnell-Cookman Middle and High School of the Medical Arts. The Medical Arts program will operate based on Next Generation Sunshine State Standards in conjunction with the National Center for Disease Control and Prevention characteristics of an effective health education program. We currently have seventy students outside of our neighborhood children taking advantage of the magnet program.

WAE is located south of Arlington Expressway, west of Southside Boulevard, and North of Atlantic Boulevard. As a Title 1 school, one of our greatest challenges is increasing the achievement level of our economically disadvantaged population, with ninety-four percent receiving free or reduced lunch. Our vision at Woodland Acres Elementary School of the Medical Arts is to provide a safe and civil environment with an emphasis on rigorous standards based curriculum, integrated with grade specific medical themes, laying a foundation for students to pursue academic excellence.
