  • Military Recognition Events/Additional Activities Throughout the Year

Oct/Nov - Winter USO Troop Donations - Our students create cards and artwork for service members away from home for the winter holidays.

November – On Veterans Day flag raising, we encourage a military presence by inviting military parents to attend in uniform and welcoming volunteers attending from the community. We also encourage all student families to bring in a photo of their military service members in uniform for our Wall of Heroes. Submissions should have the name of their ELA student(s), grade, and the service member’s name. The Wall of Heroes is visible all year.

April 14th – Purple Up Day - “Purple Up! For Military Kids” is a day for students and staff to wear purple to show support and thank military children for their strength and sacrifices. Purple is the combination of Navy, Air Force, and Coast Guard blue, Marine red, and Army green. It represents the unity of our armed forces and their families.

April, Month of the Military Child – A month-long series of grade-level parties and events to celebrate our youngest “service members”. During this month we welcome volunteers who support our celebrations with hours of time and contributions, including annually from Blue Star Families.

May - A “White Table” display for Memorial Day to remember our fallen heroes and missing veterans
