• Arrival Procedures

    • We open the gates for students to enter the campus at 7:50am.  Students cannot be on campus before this time.

    • Students in need of supervision who have arrived on campus too early will be moved by an adult to the JWJ Safe Room and a $10 charge is added to their student account.  To avoid these charges, please take your student through the parent drop off line, or register for Morning Extended Day by contacting Mr. Daniels, Enrichment Director, at danielsk2@duvalschools.org.

    • DROP OFF & PICK UP are in the loading zone of the large parking lot located on the east side of campus at the corner of Norman E. Thagard Blvd. and Melson Ave.

    • To decrease traffic congestion and promote safety, cars will enter from Norman E. Thagard Blvd. and exit onto Melson Ave turning right toward Commonwealth Ave. and Beaver St.

    • DO NOT drop your children off at the curb or in the middle of the street and allow them to walk to school. This is a major safety concern and slows the flow of traffic. Bus riders are not dropped off on the sidewalk, so please protect your children in the same manner.

    • We close the gates at 8:10am.  School begins at 8:10am, so dropping your student off at 8:08am will not give them enough time to get to class and be on time.  Tardies have started and students receive lunch detention for excessive tardies.  Please arrive inside the gates no later than 8:05am to give your student time to get to their first class.

    • Students report immediately to 1st/5th period or to the cafe for breakfast upon arrival. If you are not going to and from the cafe, you should be in your first period class of the day.

    Dismissal Procedures

    • Students WILL NOT be released after 2:15 pm (12:30pm on Early Release Days) for early dismissal. Please plan accordingly.

    • Students will remain in their last period class during dismissal as our school uses a wave dismissal process. Car riders/walkers, enrichment students, and students staying for after-school activities will be released separately by group. Bus riders will be released when their number is called. All dismissals will occur between 2:50-3:10 over the loud speaker.

    • The Pikmykid app has helped the first wave of car riders to get out quickly.  Please make sure you have the app downloaded and you are hitting the “announce” button when you arrive at the car rider lines. If you cannot see or press the “announce” button, you need to know your students Car Tag # and an administrator can place them in the line for you, but that is a short term solution.

    • Common troubleshooting fix – the individual on the student parent account must set up the account and use the same phone number as their parent focus account.  They can then add approved individuals to assist with pickup.

    • The parent pick up gates remain open for 30 minutes after dismissal and closes daily at 3:25pm.  Any students not picked up by 3:25pm are moved with an adult to our JWJ Safe Room and a $10 charge is added to their student account.  Please ensure your students are picked up within 30 minutes of the end of school to avoid these charges.

    • If you are unable to pick up your student within 30 minutes of school ending, please register with District Transportation so your student can ride the bus or register for Afternoon Extended Day.
