    Lone Star Elementary 2023– 2024

    Lone Star Elementary offers a variety of clubs for students.  Please see below for information about each club:

    WLSE SCHOOL NEWS TEAM.  Students from 4th & 5th grades who are interested in learning about being an anchor or equipment technician.  Students can come to the media center to pick up an application.  Sponsors are Ms. McCumber & Mr. Bebermeyer.

    STUDENT COUNCIL is a club designed for our students who exhibit leadership qualities, and they are motivated to make a difference in our school and community. Students must maintain a 2.0 g.p.a. and have good conduct. We conduct a variety of service projects throughout the year. We gather food for a local food bank, we entertain at a senior living facility, we learn about the sea turtles and help take care of our campus. We meet once a month and discuss any concerns the students might be experiencing. Students are chosen to be in the club based upon their response to an essay and their behavior on campus. Mrs. Haynes and Mrs. Bernard are the sponsors.

    SCIENCE CLUB is available for 3rd & 4th grade in the 2019-2020 School year. Students will meet once a month from 3:00pm-4:00p.m. Parents must provide transportation or an adult 18 and older must pick up the student no later than 4:00p.m. Fifteen students total will be invited to be part of the Science Club. Science Club will meet in the Science Lab with Mrs. Cavin.  Science Club will include · Legos, STEM activities, and Science Investigations. Ms. Cavin is the sponsor.

    PET CLUB is available to 2nd & 3rd grade students this year.  During meetings, we learn about how to be responsible pet owners and responsible citizens.  The club promotes responsible pet ownership and citizenship through service projects relating to animals: food & supply drives for pet rescue agencies, sharing learning with the school to help educate others, field trips to learn more about resources for animals and pet owners.  Ms. Farrington, Ms. Devereux and Ms. Reed are the sponsors.

    TOT's (TEACHERS OF TOMORROW) is available to 4th grades students, they meet in the morning to sign in then go assist their assigned teacher, the responsibilities of a TOT might be helping pass out papers, cleaning up and preparing  for the day, filing  papers, checking  papers, get breakfast ready.  Mrs. DiAngelo and Mr. Bebermyer are the sponsors.

    GIRLS ON THE RUN is a transformational learning program for 8 to 13 year-old girls (3rd-5th grade). We teach life skills through dynamic, conversation-based lessons and running games. The program culminates with the girls being physically and emotionally prepared to complete a celebratory 5k running event. Sponsors are Mrs. McGuire, Ms. Pedro, Mrs. Thies and Mrs. DiAngelo.

    CHORUS (Musical Performance) auditions will be held September 10,11,& 12 after school from 2:30-4:00, with the first day of practice beginning on September 16 from 2:50-4:15 every Monday. This will be a combination of chorus, acting, and dancing. We will be having an in school performance in December as well as a Field Trip to perform at the Jacksonville Airport. This club is for 3-5th grade. Must have great behavior and maintain grades.  Ms. Winter is the sponsor.

    ORFF & SQUEAKERS club meets during the months of February-May one day a week after school with an end of year performance. This is an audition-based club that involves playing recorders and xylophones. Day of the week to be determined. Auditions will be held at the end of January. This club is for 3-5th grade. Must have great behavior and maintain grades. Ms. Winter is the sponsor.

    GREEN TEAM is open for K-2 students who want to learn how to beautify our school campus and learn how they can help preserve and care for our Earth. We have two times during the year where our business partners come out and help plant a fall and a spring garden. Our green club assists in the planting and learns how to care for our gardens and how to keep our campus clean and beautiful. We will meet monthly starting in October. Students must fill out a Green Club application and have excellent citizenship to apply.  Ms. Sasser and Ms. O’Keefe are the sponsors. 

    SPANISH CLUB is open for students in grades 1-5 who are native Spanish speakers and learning English.  The club is open for students at various levels of English proficiency and exists to give Spanish-speaking students opportunities to engage in conversations with other Spanish-speaking students in English or Spanish and build friendships.  Ms. Correa and Ms. Farrington are the sponsors.
