Florida State College at Jacksonville (FSCJ) was founded in 1965 as Florida Junior College and is Duval County Public Schools oldest dual enrollment partner. Through FSCJ, eligible students may participate in courses on both the high school and college campus. Course options available on the high school campus vary by high school and from year to year.

To participate in dual enrollment courses through FSCJ students must have a minimum cumulative unweighted 3.0 GPA or higher and qualifying test scores on the Postsecondary Education Readiness Test (PERT), ACT, or SAT.

Interested students may inquire with his/her designated high school dual enrollment coordinator about the process for testing, applying, and registering for classes.

Traditional Dual Enrollment

Through FSCJ Traditional Dual Enrollment students may take courses on the high school campus and/or the college campus. FSCJ is a state college and has both GPA and testing requirements. To participate in dual enrollment courses through FSCJ students must have a minimum cumulative unweighted 3.0 GPA and qualifying test scores on the Postsecondary Education Readiness Test (PERT), ACT, or SAT. (PERT is a free postsecondary readiness test offered at all high schools.)

• PERT: Reading – 106, Writing – 103, Math – 114

(Note: All С³óߣ students may take the PERT for free at the high school),

• ACT: Reading – 19, Writing – 17, Math – 19, OR
• SAT: Reading – 24, Writing & Language – 25, Math – 24.

Traditional Dual Enrollment students are limited to three (3) total courses regardless of the postsecondary institution. Of the three (3) total courses, no more than two (2) courses may be taken on the college campus.

Students taking course on the high school campus must meet the eligibility requirements prior to the first day of class and be enrolled on the first day of the semester. Prerequisite requirements must be met three weeks (3) prior to the first day of class on the high school campus and for courses on the college campus. Prerequisite requirements must be met three weeks (3) prior to registration for courses on the college campus. Official transfer credits, AP test scores, IB test scores, AICE test scores, and all other placement test scores must be submitted to FSCJ at minimum of three (3) weeks prior to registration for courses on the college campus and three (3) weeks prior to the first day of class for courses on the high school campus.

The very last day for schools to submit student registration documents is May 1^st (by 2:00 PM) for Fall semesters and November 15^th for Spring semester (by 2:00 PM). There are no exceptions to the registration deadlines. There is a deadline each semester for students to CORRECTLY complete the FSCJ online application. Schools will have an earlier deadline in which students must submit their registration form so that they may ensure that they are able to get all forms reviewed, follow up as needed, and submitted to FSCJ by the deadline for registration.

Early College

The Early College Program provides students greater access to higher education and promotes student achievement at the high school and post-secondary levels. The Early College Program blends high school and college courses to enable students to earn a high school diploma and an Associate in Arts degree or an Associate in Science degree with minimal financial cost.

Early College participants apply and are accepted in Grade 8, begin the program in Grade 9. In Grades 9 and 10, participants are permitted to take a limited number of dual enrollment courses at the high school. These courses are taught by high school instructors and are available to students who meet continuation criteria. In Grades 11 and 12, Early College participants are enrolled full time at an assigned Florida State College at Jacksonville (FSCJ) campus. Students are able to participate in all clubs, sports, and activities on the high school campus.

Early Admission

Early Admission is a form of dual enrollment through which eligible high school juniors may apply to enroll in a postsecondary institution, Florida State College at Jacksonville, on a full-time basis for both the fall and spring semesters of their senior year. The dual enrollment courses are used both toward completion of a high school diploma and the associate or baccalaureate degree.

Students enrolled in a С³óߣ high school by November 1^st of Grade 11, will be in a С³óߣ traditional high school for Grade 12, and meet all of the eligibility requirements may apply to participate in Early Admission in which he/she could attend FSCJ full time for his/her senior year.

Currently, students must express interest to the school based dual enrollment coordinator no later than March 1^st have an unweighted 3.5 GPA when Semester 1 grades post in Grade 11; meet the reading and math test requirements for high school graduation; met the online course requirement; have College Ready PERT/ACT/SAT scores; have completed the following courses: Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II, World History, US History, HOPE, a performing fine art, two years of the same world language; and be able to complete their remaining credits needed for high school graduation in their first semester at the college senior year following the scheduling guidelines as students may not be enrolled in any additional courses outside of his/her college course schedule at FSCJ.
