    At J. Allen Axson, our Preschool Program is a tuition based program, $350 per month (we do not accept the VPK voucher as we are not a part of the VPK program). After touring the school, an application for the following year can be submitted online to the magnet office by the end of February in order to apply for the program. Once the application is received, it is processed via a lottery, just as all other magnet applications. Typically, you are notified by the end of April via email or letter. The communication will inform you if your child was accepted or wait-listed. Currently there is continuity from Preschool to Kindergarten, which means, at this time, all incoming Preschoolers do not have to reapply for Kindergarten. 

     

    All of our preschoolers (ages 3 and 4) are grouped in a kindergarten classroom with kindergarteners. They work with hands-on Montessori materials that focus on concrete language, reading, and math skills, as well as fine motor skills, gross motor skills, and practical life skills. It is a classroom environment which means, we do require all preschool students to be fully potty trained (able to initiate going to the restroom and fully able to clean and dress themselves). If you are interested, we would love for you to come and tour our school. We offer tours in January and February.
