    The Sandalwood Academy of Information Technology offers innovative instruction for students that want to enhance their high school career. This unique I.T. program allows students to explore the rapidly changing technology industry by understanding its fundamentals through real-world applications and project-based learning. Students receive a jump-start on their education and careers through the ability to earn industry certifications, hands-on training and internships with local business partners. The Academy prepares students to be a step ahead of their competitors for a future in the technology industry and/or higher education upon graduation.

     The Information Technology Program is designed for high school students to understand, communicate, and adapt to a digital world as it impacts their personal life, society, and the business world. Exposure to foundational knowledge in hardware, software, digital design, and web design are taught in a computer lab with hands-on activities and project focused tasks. Employability skills are integrated into activities, tasks, and projects throughout the course standards to demonstrate the skills required by business and industry. Various forms of technologies will be highlighted to expose students to emerging technologies impacting the digital world. Professional communication skills and practices, problem-solving, ethical and legal issues, and the impact of effective presentation skills are taught in these courses as a foundational knowledge to prepare students to be college and career ready. The knowledge and skills taught in these courses build upon each other to form a comprehensive introduction to the digital world.

    *Digital Information Technology is the foundational course that students begin with before advancing in the I.T. track and taking additional I.T. classes offered as available. 

    **The Advanced Placement (AP) Computer Science Principles course can be completed first, if the student has already completed the Algebra 1 course.
