• Magnet Transportation Information

  • In general, transportation is provided to students enrolled in magnet programs and schools. Please see specific guidelines below.
Note - When discussing magnet school opportunities, we encourage families to consider the possibility of a long commute to the magnet school.

    Elementary School Magnet Transportation

    • Elementary schools are divided into seven transportation zones and transportation is provided to any elementary student living in the same zone that their magnet school is located in.
    • The distance to a bus stop can be up to one mile from the residence, or up to one and one-half (1 ½) miles if the neighborhood school is used as a bus stop.
    • Some elementary magnet students will transfer at a hub site and ride another bus to their magnet school.
    • Parents and guardians should ensure the safe travel/transport of students to and from the bus stop and supervision while at the stop.

    Middle School Magnet Transportation

    • Middle schools are divided into two major transportation zones A and B. Transportation is provided based on the zone you live in.
    • Some middle school magnet schools have limited transportation.
    • Bus stops will be made on Express Routes primarily at schools or public locations.
    • The distance between home and the nearest bus stop may be greater than the district policy of one mile.

    • County-wide transportation is provided with a combination of neighborhood routes, shuttles and Express routes.
    • There are some differences in the transportation system that apply to specific schools.
    • Bus stops will be made on Express Routes primarily at schools or public locations.
