  • Many schools offer mental and emotional health resources. These include:

    • School counselors - Provide immediate support and resources for emotional, social, and academic needs. This includes coping skills, grief support, anger management, social skills, and career advice. These are non-clinical counseling services. Can provide short-term individual or group counseling.
    • Mental health therapists -  Provide clinical, intensive services such as evaluating, diagnosing, and treating mental health disorders and illnesses in children and teenagers. This includes counseling and therapy. To be referred to a mental health therapist, students and/or parents can contact their school's Full Service Social Worker.
    • Social workers - School social workers provide support to students and families struggling with needs such as housing, clothing, and food challenges. Full Service Schools social workers help connect students to extensive community support providers such as mental health therapists.
    • GROW club - These are student-led organizations designed to help students promote emotional and mental wellness at their school. This is a new and developing program, and therefore may not exist at all schools.
    • GROW coach - A school-based educator who has been trained or in training to develop a student-led GROW club at the school. These coaches also receive training in Youth Mental Health First Aid, which provides guidance on how to assist youth with mental and emotional health support. This position may not exist at all high schools.
