• Andrew Robinson Elementary, Principal Mychelle Grover

We heard from parents, students, and employees about just how fun math is at Andrew Robinson! There were many comments about math being both challenging and fun.  In addition, the teachers have truly embraced the diverse tools provided to assist students in math.  As one student said, “This school provides many opportunities for you to succeed in the real world” and shared that students are able to learn math “the hands-on way.”  Way to rock, Andrew Robinson!

• New Berlin Elementary School, Principal Raquel Foxworth

At New Berlin, students enjoy fun competitions throughout the year, and students are recognized for their growth at their “Scholar’s Celebration.”  This is an event that honors their math champions and their dedication to excellence in math.  In the classroom, students practice math through song and dance – students enjoy learning!  As Principal Foxworth shared, “Math at New Berlin Elementary isn't just a subject; it's an exciting journey of growth, challenge, and success.”

• Pine Forest School of the Arts, Principal Michelle Matthews

Parents at Pine Forest say that they love they way the school rocks at both arts and academics.  Teachers and parents raved about their math night that allowed parents to choose between several different sessions.  One parent shared about the school’s collaboration with LaVilla Middle School to better prepare fifth graders for middle school math expectations.  Parents are provided with practice activities to do at home.  One employee shared, “Kids that love math will learn and grow and be forever learners. Pine Forest Elementary School of the Arts is an amazing place to work.”

• Fort Caroline Elementary, Principal Carlene Smith

We heard from parents, students, employees and community members about the PRIDE at Fort Caroline Elementary.  The school focuses on community service as a way to build school pride.  Working with Generation W and Deutsche Bank, they hosted a campus clean-up to spruce up the outside of the school.  Friday Food Giveaways, uniform assistance, and school supply drives assist students and families start the year off right.  The fifth graders get to boogie over to the FORT MIDDLE SCHOOL for dance lessons during resource time.  Students volunteer to work in the school garden and the intermediate students mentor the students in the primary grades.

• San Jose Elementary School, Principal Jasmin Gomez

This elementary school is proud of the care they provide to their refugee families.  Students and families donate kits filled with personal items for new families.  They demonstrate their Panda Pride at flag-raising ceremonies, which are especially meaningful to our newest Jacksonville arrivals.  As one parent stated, “This school radiates positivity, creativity, community involvement and unifies its staff, students and parents from all walks of life.”  Although students at the school speak 15 different languages, there is a true sense of unity.  The school partnered with NextGen Restoration and local faith based groups for campus beautification, as well as donations for sports equipment for the school year.

• Ed White High School, Principal Traci Battest

Ed White’s campaign for September School of the Month was 100% student-led.  According to the Commander students, their teachers are simply the best!  Ed White teachers treat their students with respect, while still holding them accountable for their work.  Students are encouraged to be leaders and to give back to their community.  Special shout outs were given to the band and the ROTC program for their contributions to school pride.  Students were especially proud of their ability to consistently raise their graduation rate.
