State Required Notice: Family Empowerment Scholarship

The Family Empowerment Scholarship Education Option is a Florida Department of Education scholarship program that provides eligible students to apply for scholarship to attend a private school selected by their parent or guardian.

To be eligible, students must meet several requirements. 

 


Eligibility Requirements

  • A student who is a resident of the state of Florida and is eligible to enroll in kindergarten through grade 12 in a public school in the state of Florida.
  • A student whose household income level does not exceed 185 percent of the federal poverty level or who is in foster care or out-of-home care.
  • A student whose household income level exceeds 185 percent of the federal poverty level but does not exceed 400 percent of the federal poverty level.

 

For a list of eligible schools, please view the Department’s Private School Directory. A private school that is currently eligible to participate in any of the scholarship programs is eligible to participate in the FES EO. However, parents should contact the schools to inquire as to whether the private school will participate in the program.
