The mission of the Technology Infrastructure Department is to provide standardized structured wiring specification’s and installation practices for data, telephone, CCTV, LAV (local audio/visual), grounding & bonding and the supporting electrical systems in all of our schools. Coordination of all aspect of the design and construction is important, since our schools vary widely in their needs and construction.  Therefore an understanding of how these standards affect retrofits and new construction is important.

It is the responsibility of the Architect, Engineers, and Contractors to be familiar with these specifications and how and when to apply them.   Design teams are required to use an RCDD and/or an engineer with a minimum of three years experience working closely with our design requirements.

Only a member of this department or the appropriate AHJ (as described within the С³óߣ SWS) may approve any requests for variances from these standards.  These requests shall only be approved in writing.  To maintain cost effectiveness and ease of maintenance, only products approved by these standards or the appropriate AHJ are to be used.  Contractors shall meet the conditions set forth in the С³óߣ Technology Contractor Pre-approval Requirements.

The latest version is written to prepare С³óߣ for the technology of the present as well as the future.  As such the new version will be referred to as the С³óߣ Structured Wiring Standard (SWS) 3rd edition 2013Q.
