GEAR UP Scholarship

  • С³óߣ GEAR UP supports students in their pursuit of postsecondary education and makes available a GEAR UP Scholarship for eligible students in the graduating class of 2023 attending one of our seven GEAR UP high schools.  Students must apply for the scholarship during their senior year of high school and before the June 15th deadline. If awarded, students will receive a one-year GEAR UP Scholarship.

    Scholarship Criteria

    Eligible students will demonstrate financial need at the time of application and meet the following criteria:

    • Applicant must be under the age of 22 years old when you are first awarded the GEAR UP Scholarship;
    • Applicant must be in the graduating class of 2023 and have received a standard high school diploma from a Duval County Public Schools GEAR UP site (William Raines, First Coast, Englewood, Terry Parker, Westside, Riverside, or Jean Ribault High School);
    • Applicant must have a cumulative high school grade point average of 3.25 or higher;
    • The school or university you are attending must be eligible to receive federal financial aid (have a federal school code) AND is an accredited post-secondary education institution in the Department of Education’s accreditation database (); and
    • Applicant must have participated in GEAR UP services offered under the 2017-2024 GU grant.

    The dollar amount of the scholarship varies based on available funding.  Students must apply for the scholarship by June 8th.  Only complete applications will be considered.  Students will be notified of awards via mail/or email.
