  • Professional Development to Meet Renewal Requirements

Please refer to the С³óߣ Certification Department’s Renewal Requirements page for general information about requirements to renew.

A professional certificate must be renewed every five years. An educator must and earn at least six college credits or 120 In-service points to review professional certification.

Links below are to С³óߣ Certification Department Webpages that include steps for the renewal process.

    Validity Period

Coursework for renewal requirements must be completed during the validity period of the Professional Certificate to be renewed and before the expiration of that Professional Certificate.

    • Your validity period is the five years your certificate is valid.
    • The validity period is expressed in school fiscal years from July 1 to June 30
      •  i.e. July 1, 2021, to June 30, 2026.

How to Review Your Inservice Record

You may review your professional learning in-service record by logging into , clicking on the “Transcript” tab, choosing the beginning date of your validity period for “Section End Date From” and “Section End Date To” and click “Search.”

Confirm that all surveys have been completed to receive credit. The “Total” box displays the number of hours/points you have earned so far toward each area. Only hours listed under “ESE” and “ESE and Reading” in the “Bankable” box count toward the Students with Disabilities (SWD) requirement for renewal (more info below). Training Hours do not count toward renewal. In-service courses must be 4+ hours to count towards renewal.

If you have questions about additional credits that do not appear in PowerSchool, your school’s bookkeeper or data entry clerk can access and print your “Workshop Attendance” transcript in SAP, or you may contact Ms. Ellen Clarke (clarkee1 @duvalschools.org) in Professional Development.

Ways to earn the six college credits or 120 hours/points requirements

    • All renewals must include at least 1 semester hour (20 points) in teaching students with disabilities (SWD)

What counts as college credit or in-service points?

    • 20 in-service points in an approved Florida master in-service program are equivalent to one (1) semester hour of college credit.
      • In-service courses must be 4+ hours to count towards renewal.
    • Please visit the С³óߣ Certification Renewal Requirements page for more information about alternative ways to earn college credit or in-service points.
    • Visit or the PD Catalog found on the Professional Development website for all С³óߣ courses being offered.
    • Please note that teachers cannot receive inservice points towards renewal for completing the same ASD, ESOL, Reading, Ed Leadership, Gifted or SWD course that was completed previously.

Endorsement Courses offered by Professional Development

С³óߣ Professional Development offers courses toward endorsement in Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL), Gifted, and Reading free of charge for С³óߣ teachers. All courses are offered through Canvas in a hybrid online format. A minimum of two synchronous/in-person meetings will be held during the term. Instructors may schedule more. Please note that ASD Field Experiences and Reading Competency 5 have prerequisites to participate. Because of the rigor and time commitment required of these 60-hour graduate-level courses, it is recommended to take no more than one course per term.

For more information on endorsement courses, visit the Professional Development website.

For specific questions regarding endorsement courses, email endorsementregistration@duvalschools.org
