• Thank You, Lutheran Social Services and the UNF Honors Program!

This fall the Lutheran Social Services Refugee Youth Program is partnering for the fourth year with the UNF Freshman Honors students in a mentoring and sports program.  The UNF students - led by Dr. Leslie Kaplan - serve as mentors, academic tutors and sports coaches to approximately 70 refugee children in grades K-12.  With the gracious support of the staff at the Duval County Public School's Center for Language and Culture, each Friday afternoon from early September to mid-November the group participates in reading and math tutoring followed by volleyball and soccer practice held at the Center.  LSS would like to thank all of the partners involved in making this program such a success!
